Of course not everything is fucked-up in...

North Carolina.  After ten years of "thinking about it", they're going to give money to the victims of government-sponsored eugenics, sterilization actually, under the authority of the North Carolina Eugenics Board program.

We're guessing there isn't anyone on that board any more, but we're not putting money on it.

Of course, these 7,600 people were "serviced" between 1929 and 1974 and the number of them who are still alive is unknown. Less than 200 have come forward so far and made claims. And given NC's quality of government, who's to say how long it will take to invalidate... er... validate those claims. You really should read how they defined this. Let's just say they defined the M-Word in more ways than one.

No word on how much individuals will receive, but given 10 million dollars is ready to be distributed, we're guessing 50% or more of that will be eaten up by "administrative costs."
