It's the way of regulation. The long-cherished art of burning your sigil into the slide of a cow may be going the way of the real cowboy.
Regulators want to do silly things like identify specific cows with electronic chips, so they could better trace the source of meat, disease, thieft, etc.
Silly, yeah, but not unexpected. Soon the only branding irons will be in the hands of artists, modern primitives, and other crazies.
