Who Shot JR?
Thirty years ago today, J.R. Ewing of Dallas fame was shot. Lest we forget.
| The show was a milestone in producer power over actors. End a season with an explosion or other catastrophic event that left the lives of actors whose contracts would have to be renegotiated over the coming summer months in doubt. The idea that their deaths (and end of contractual obligations) were written into the scripts was a pioneering move that "lives on" to this day. |
