we get it... daily

Giving yourself a nickname...
We always cringe when someone gives them self a nickname. It's always a little creepy. It's usually something like "Captain" or "Ace." Nicknames that others give you are usually more honest, like "Specks" or "Chubs."
When you're president, it's a bit more serious.
Most of the nation cringed when Bush started calling himself a "War President." It really set his focus, not internal programs, not diplomacy, not exploration. War. He's the president of War.
The nation rarely vocalizes its own nickname, but we'd venture a guess that we wouldn't call ourselves a "War Nation." Nah, we're more likely a "Business Nation," or maybe even a "Technology Nation" or an "Entertainment Nation." We'd focus on what we're good at, what we want to do to get ahead.
Putting the whole War President thing in perspective, we have to think about other professional relationships we deal with on a daily basis. It would be more straightforward to understand that a political candidate is a "Lobbyist Tool" or that your lawyer is a "Liar." (Yeah, not so inventive on that one, but maybe you're looking for a liar so it's best to be direct.)
When it comes to really important things, we worry though. War President is right up there with "Amputation Doctor." Not someone we want in general practice.
