One thing about getting away from it all...
Is that you miss everything. That's the allure of a road trip, and the downside. You can miss something important, for like days. Like death for example. Like important people dying. Like fucking people who, if anyone has a right to live forever, have a right to live forever.
They gain that right by speaking truth with all the clarity of a brick to the face.
They gain that right by being unique, in a world that treats one-offs like novelties.
They gain that right by sharing their insights, their wisdom, their warmth, their love.
They gain that right by being Kurt Vonnegut.
Or rather, they should have gained that right, that right to live forever. Kurt died Wednesday.
And, do we really have to pound this point home for you? He should have fucking lived forever.
