Nobody act surprised here. We know there are going to be fan boys round the world shrieking at the news, but please - get a grip.
Sony has noted that they'll ship fewer Playstation 3's than previously announced. Actually that's not quite how they spun it. First they say they have "plans to ship two million PlayStation 3 players this year to the U.S. and Japan, and six million worldwide by March." Of course, the key word there is Plans. Plans don't always pan out, plans can have different levels of front-end evaluation. Plans... sometimes don't happen.
So the spin: Jack Tretton, co-chairman for Sony's Computer Entertainment America says "The honest answer is it's more of a target for PlayStation 3 shipments."
Targets often get missed. Hey, sometimes the target is too far away, other times that bulls eye is just too damn small.
Of course, other times Targets are just some place fools line up outside days in advance to buy shit...
