Congress Poses over HP
HP is certainly no saint in this whole spying thing, but the fact that lawmakers are only now considering making the tactics used to gain private materials illegal says volumes; about how "guilty" HP is, and how little the system has done to actually protect your privacy so far.
But what's truly disgusting this week is the preponderance of congressional posers asking condescending questions about knowledge, timing, and morality. Now that they've got a nice dirty little case, they can all rise above it and draft some laws to "protect" us.
Why does that scare us so?
It's often noted that one of the scariest
things you can ever hear is "I'm from the government, I'm here to help." |
