Last Word on the Oscars...
We missed the first part of the broadcast and had to run down a digital copy. Thanks A.M.
Our only comment is that we thought Jon Stewart rocked the house. We feel we need to say this because some of the "regular" journalists are dissing him for having missed his audience in composing jokes for the academy.
To that we say: You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
The opening segment was brilliant. Stewart's monologue was daring, poked good fun at the pomposity of Hollywood aristocracy, and brought the real problem with the Oscars into light with one toss-off joke:
"For anyone
keeping record:
Martin Scorsese,
zero Oscars.
For
Three 6 Mafia,
one."
