LOL, Sony - taking a page...
Sony is rumored to be taking a page from Microsoft's book in the shipping of the PS3: Lose money. Rumors have it that the PS3 will sell for $399, representing a loss of $103 per system, similar to the original XBOX pricing strategy!
Microsoft, on the other hand, has priced their XBOX 360 system in more of a break-even mode, offering two models: one with hard disk, one without, with a $100 difference in price between the two. This lets them get into the $299 price range right out the door, with hard-core fans going for the $399 model and MS not losing money on either.
Yeah, we'll be buying a PS3 eventually. But that will be based on wanting some title that's only on their box. But out the door, we'll be bringing home two XBOX 360s, because good as XBOX Live is, nothing says lovin' like system link mayhem.
And don't lose sight of the fact that it's simply more patriotic to buy XBOX than SONY. And we're all about the blind patriotism, eh?
