That's what was wrong!
Breathe a sigh of relief. PalmOne, maker of those quaint retro PDAs, is Palm again.
Apparently having forgotten to secure the rights to their name, they didn't learn when their prior product Palm Pilot had to be renamed under similar circumstances, they've spent $30,000,000 to buy the name and another $149,000,000 (so much more a bargan than $150,000,000) to license the accompanying OS. Competitors for the name were all in the adult entertainment industry.
No doubt this ushers in a wild new era of profitability as they move their product line into the ultra profitable world of open source, bloated penguins, and free software.
In related news, a new batch of phones is expected to show up with the new branding. The target market here is fat unwashed virgins, whose favorite phrase is "yeah, but can your phone play Lil' Sim City?" This group represents a key demographic for companies planning on losing a buttload of money.
