What sucked about the XBOX 360 show...
We watched the Killers continue to impersonate Joy Division on MTV's XBOX 360 roll out show last night. They're not bad, but they're really nothing to get excited about. And neither was the rest of the show.
But they were indicative of what sucked about the show. Only thirty minutes of show, and twenty of it was us watching lame-ass almost-celebs goof on how much they didn't really understand videogames or the industry. Who the fuck thinks Elijah Wood has any v-game cred? The "Pimp my old-school XBOX" session was pitiful, as was the Pimp My Ride crew in general. There are better decal designs available over-the-counter. And rappers, please someone realize that commentary by rappers on anything but their music is like holding a can with a stone in it up to your ear and shaking it. Yeah, there's noise there, but that's about it. We'd rather watch trained ferrets crawl around the box for 20 minutes.
At the end of the show we had more questions than answers, and maybe that was the point. It's certainly in keeping with MTV's decline, they continue to show exactly what we don't want. Tune in for music, watch reality shows. Tune in for the 411 on a new game console, watch a bunch of boring self-involved cretins try to talk trash. We're not even going to get to the brain-damaged gamers they brought in for the head-to-head competition, the only hope there is that they don't procreate.
Don't get us wrong, we're on for two of the 360 boxes on the day they hit the street. We just wish we had caught up on Tivo'd Stacked episodes instead of tuning into MTV...
